Title Deeds question

Hi i am due to make the final payment on my mortgage on the 1st March
Went in to the Building Society to see what happens when its paid

They said if we keep the account open with £1.00 in it they will store the titlle deeds for us

Is this normal or is there a hidden catch?

Thanks

The deeds are held electronically at the Land Registry these days.

Any paper deeds are only of historical interest, and have no financial value.

You might as well pay it off and hang onto the paper deeds yourself.
