Thoughts please, had interview for job but interview took a turn

Hi all, any advice/thoughts appreciated
I applied for a job as an account executive, however during interview after discussing my cv and a little about the role the interviewer changed the dynamic and started talking about placing me in purchasing as either exec or manager, we talked on this for 15 mins and then ended the interview.
At the end of the interview i was told this was a prelim and he would email me within 24 hours. 24 hours later i got an email saying i successfully manager the interview and was told i would be invited next week for a 2nd interview (my thoughts being on a job in purchasing).
However just got a phone call asking me to tomorrow to start an induction even though in first interview i said i couldnt start until 2nd week in Feb.
Do you think i am having an induction for the job of account exec or something else? i queried on the phone about the 2nd interview email and she said the induction would be the same as a 2nd interview.
Overall i am very confused and i have the induction tomorrow morning, even though i dont know for which job or what the salary would be.
I feel stupid at this point

Without necessarily revealing the company name ...... do a search on this forum to see if the company comes up (also do a Google search).
It may be one of those commission only / self employed jobs ?
Alternatively, just ring up the company and explain that you have not yet received your offer letter / contract of employment and you need to confirm start time and salary etc.0 -
tried to phone company up, no one answered (no suprise it was after 6pm), as for on google, i cannot find them at all, however they have facebook pages that are empty and job advert specifically mentioned be good at facebook.
Will go to induction in morning to i guess sign a contract however that will depend on what the job is i suppose
only petrol and time to lose i guess so worth attending i believe0 -
induction is in no way whatsoever the same as an interview.

This sounds really dodgy: inductions are for new employees.

It sounds very strange, I would be very wary and insist that the employer explains their process - it apears to be highly irregular and likely to have a scam factor attached to it.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Update:
So got dressed up and attended the "induction", firstly the man running it, was 50 mins late, then in the induction he basically spoke about the job and the way different people in the induction would play different roles (8 of us there).
At the end of the induction we went away with literature and told to come in monday at 9am to sign contracts and provide id for crb checks. after this a sit down with "the man" will be on a one to one basis.
So to sum this up, i am still unsure what job i would be in, however i am prepared to go in monday morning and have this meeting to find out what job i would be given (either accounts executive or procurement/purchase manager.
I am struggling to find a scam in this, however i am being wary. it seems to be a startup company that for 7 months doesnt seem to have done alot other than theoretically gain investment. On this basis its worth going forward with as i worked for a start up some 15 years ago and it did well, and i went from a customer service nightshift grunt (who did nothing but read papers) to operations manager and a good salary in 18 months.
Anyway anymore thoughts from you guys/girls appreciated0 -

From what you say, this does not "feel" right to you.
Also, it doesn't sound right.
However, if you are currently not working you haven't got much to lose by turning up on Monday morning.
(I still don't understand how/why you still do not know who the company are, what they do or what the job is - what did you actually talk about during the 2 meetings you have had with them?).0 -
Sorry Acc72, i know the name of the company and the address, they are simply not on the net other than empty facebook pages that need creating, or company information for registration date.
The meeting discussed the business and to a point a strategy for the account execs but all basis info. We were given 6 printouts that explain a part of the business.
It is in my opinion if it is a legit company, it is got idiotic management in that have never set up a company before or dealt with new employees.0
