Free Smoke Alarms

The Fire Brigade are running a new initative to educuate the public on the risks of fire. If you give them a call they will come round to your house and fit your house out with smoke alarms for free.

They have just left my house on their big red truck and my 2 year old has a big smile on his face and I have free smoke alarms fitted professionally and in the optimum locations around my home. Better still, they even come back to change the batteries for you if you call and say they have gone...

Dont Ring 999!!!.....just call your local station between 9 and 5 mon-fri.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    In Hampshire it's definitely running.

A house up the road was being visited by 2 engines last weekend so we asked a fireman what was going on. He kindly let our 4 year old sit in the engine while he dug around for a post off leaflet.

You do have to meet certain criteria to get a visit (children under a certain age, over 60, mobility impaired, etc.)

We are still waiting a call back...
    That's Numberwang!

  • We called our local station and asked for a fire safety review - they came and fitted 2 smoke alarms (one down and one upstairs), did the review and left us quite a bit of info as well. They didn't ask about age, children, benefits or anything like that - so worth everyone calling and asking.

Smoke alarms can be purchased very cheaply from Wilkinsons if this iniative isn't in your area & apparently you should fit a detector on each floor of your home x
