Looks like that tin can is going to cost you dear, the sales people depend on confusion when selling you your shiny new banger and most people (you included) just sign blindly without reading. It's all part of the want now culture.

I think you'll find that the 'option to purchase' fee is a legal necessity following a Hire Purchase Agreement, as for the period of the agreement you have technically been 'hiring' the car not purchasing it. The option to purchase fee is to transfer the legal title to you.
That's not to say that the companies are not screwing people with this fee. I've mentioned before in these columns that in the 60's and 70's the fee was £2.
