Hi,
After lots of reading on here i tried my first homemade cleaning spray for doing my swish and swipe with. Half vinegar, half water with a few drops of lavender oil. It still smells overpowering of vinegar though. Now whenever I go into the bathroom where I've cleaned with it I can smell vinegar. Is there such a thing as odourless vinegar or is that a stupid question?
Thanks

I didn't think white vinegar really smells of vinegar. Maybe a few more drops of lavendar oil or is it too strong to mask?

My home-made MSE OS general purpose cleaning spray does smell of vinegar (because its got distilled malt, aka white, vinegar in it!) for a bit, but it soon disappears. A 50% solution might be a bit high. I originally used equal parts of Stardrops, winegar and water. I have now successfully experimented with equal parts of Stardrops, vinegar, disinfectant and water. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

I find the vinegar smell disipates quickly, leaviong a clean, smell. I use just vinegar and water or vinegar and washing up liquid and water for some things. I wonder if tihe oil coild be 'holding' the vinegar so the scent lingers?0

try boiling the vinegsr first let it cool overnight and the smell will be gone out off the vinegar!0 -
I would agree that possibly the half and half mix is slightly high, I use star drops as well, usually about 2 fingers high of starsdrops then up to the half mark of vinegar and fill with water, if I am running low of vinegar I add more water, I will try to remember to measure next time. The smell doesnt go immediately though about 30 mins....... I live in a hard water area to use probably have to use more vinegar than some areasDFW 1108 Proud to be dealing with my debts:love: 2014Is Going to be the Year...for love...:smileyhea0

I regularly read a blog, and she makes citrus vinegar by soaking either lemon or orange peel in white vinegar for 3 weeks, and then dilutes it 50/50 with water to use.0

As said if you've mixed with something oil based the smell will linger, if you use vinegar and water or stardrops the smell will go as soon as the solution dries, should be very quick unless you've soaked everything."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

I agree, to much vinegar and oil,
why not use Jif lemon juice instead if don't like the vinegar smell?
I don't use oils in my solution but sometimes put a couple of drops of Zoflora in for a different fragrance. I quite like the clean smell after cleaning with vinegar, especially if we had fish or cabbage....0
