Very confused

Hi All

I'm a regular reader here, though not necessarily a regular poster. However, I had a very odd experience yesterday that I'm hoping you good and knowledgeable peeps might be able to explain to me.

We have 4 credit cards at the moment with about £9k debt. Of these, 2 are balance transfer ones (1 comes to an end at the end of March 2012), 1 is used for regular spending and 1 is closed and we're just paying off the debt.

Having reviewed and re-reviewed our debts over Christmas, we decided that the best and most acheivable step for us, was to get a small loan from s*insb*rys to consolidate the debt. It was going to clear the 3 non-spending CCs over a 24month period, which worked well for us.

I made the application on-line and followed it up by a phonecall. Now the confusing bit - the underwriters were not able to agree the loan on the basis that they couldn't find the CCs mentioned above on my credit file. My husband is only on 2 of the cards as an additional card-holder, so all 4 should be in my name and at my address.

So, my question is - where are my debts?! I can access the accounts on-line, receive monthly statements for 2 of them and pay them off regularly. Anyone any thoughts on this most puzzling of conundrums?

Oh thanks for that tip, I hadn't realised that different CCs would report to different credit ratings agencies.

I haven't checked my own credit repot :o, so maybe I need to do that too....!
