Starting to save for my dream life

Hi,
I’ve been reading posts on here probably for the last 3 years and have decided to take the plunge and keep my own diary to keep me on track and keep me motivated as like a lot of people I start off with the very best intentions but end up falling by the wayside.
I don’t have a lot of debt and it is manageable, but just the thought of being ‘in debt’ keeps me awake at night and makes me worry an awful lot. I had my lightbulb moment at the beginning of December and many sleepless nights and trying to get things into perspective, I have decided that even though I am in debt, it’s not the be all and end all and that I can clear it by the end of the year whilst being able to do things I want to do.
However, I don’t have any savings really and am desperate to change jobs and move to London, so need to start saving as much as possible. I’ve set up a standing order to transfer £50 to a savings account every pay day, have signed up for the Virtual sealed pot challenge and the sealed pot challenge and aim to sell as many things as I can on ebay. I’ve also been taking my lunch to work every day since the start of the year and am trying to have as many NSD’s as possible (I’ve managed 5 so far this month).
My current debt is as follows:
Barclaycard: £2658.09 (0% interest until December 2012)
Overdraft: £700
After all my monthly outgoings I have £538 to “play” with. This has to cover petrol to and from work (about £40 a week) but everything after that is there for me to spend on what I want. My boyfriend currently lives 200 miles away so every other weekend I travel to London, which is where a lot of my money goes especially as public transport is so expensive (it works out cheaper than driving though). Hopefully, from April onwards we will be closer to each other and I will be able to save more.
So…there begins the start of my diary. I need to keep saving as much as possible and not frittering my money away on things I don’t need. I’m going to withdraw a certain amount at the beginning of the week and not use anymore that what I’ve budgeted. Hopefully this will keep me on the straight and narrow.
