What a bummer! Things like that happen though, and you just need to keep going.

1st of the month today so my regular payments go out and my % paid off goes right up!

Where in the US are you going?

    Hey MrsB

We are off on a snowboarding trip to Lake Tahoe and then a week in San Francisco where we know some people to stay with. 12 of us for the first week and just me and OH for the second week so should be amazing. OH paid for the trip as my 30th present so I owe her big time! Just as well I bought her a ring last year really!

I need to check when my payments are going out on my debts so I can remember to include those payments in the figures. Managed to get through lunch without venturing anywhere I shouldn't so still managing to remain disciplined!

That is awesome. I love SF - it's one of my favourite cities.

Any recommendations? I am really looking forward to Alcatraz but other than that I had just planned on having a bit of a wander around!

Alcatraz is great. Definitely pay for the audio tour, and try to go later in the day when it's quieter.

What sort of things do you like? We did a lot of drinking around union square and in the Mission, and North Beach is also excellent for a wander.

Don't bother with Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 - it's tacky and rubbish.

Thanks MrsB the rest of our mates are staying somewhere near Union Square on the one night they are in town so will definately see what that is all about, Alcatraz is number one priority though!

Apologies for the lack of updates over the last few days, to be honest I have had a few things that needed to be bought in advance of the snowboarding trip on Saturday so I haven't managed to make any further inroads into the debt pot or holiday savings, that being said, I still have a couple of days to go! My loan payment came out which means that my loan is now under the £6k mark which is good, and a payment came off my First Direct Credit card but I need to wait to see what the interest is before I can include it in my calculations! Will be able to put greater emphasis on this when I am back from hols, gonna really try to not overspend whilst I am there but that is easier said than done - must be disciplined!!

Incidentally MrsB - how are you doing your £10 a day challenge? Is it ebaying things or a combination of other things?

Great news on the loan! I love it when a debt has a new number at the start of it!

I eBay (not as much as I should because I hate it), I have a 2nd job connected to my main profession, and I do some surveys. I've also done Amazon trade-in for the first time this week. I'm honestly amazed by how quickly it mounts up sometimes. This month I'm saving for some house repairs, but other months I've put it towards Christmas and a wedding we attended.

I was really sceptical at first but I'm converted now!

I shall have to check it out then! Right, I am going to have to sign off for a couple of weeks as flying from Heathrow tomorrow assuming there is no snow overnight! Fingers crossed.

When I get back I will be able to put more money towards these debts and really start to make some headway into them, not quite as exciting as going snowboarding but a close second.
