Hi and welcome Poodle. I understand you not wanting to post your SOA, I'm one of those that will never do it. I have some complicated finance commitments and they would be hard to explain.

Sometimes some people have unusual commitments which could be ruled by the heart and/or maybe have legal consequences to get out of. Last year I had a £10 monthly commitment which I reckon everyone would have been totally horrified with but paying it made me so happy (it was £25 but I managed to negotiate it down to £10). When the commitment was raised my heart truly broke because I really could no longer justify it but then was thrown a lifeline and it became £10. YAY!!

Sadly the £10 commintment is no more, the recession, loss of jobs, rising running costs and the bottom falling out of the market brought this mutual commitment to an end. It was so sad I am crying now! How silly of me, but how can you explain how much something means to you?

Hi Poodlegal - I can understand not wanting to post your SOA as well - I've never done that either.
You said rural Scotland - is it "rural" rural (really miles from anywhere) or rural but near civilisation (like I am). If you're really rural then I realise that prices will be higher & distance can be an issue.
And just to start - you said that most of the debt was c/cards - have you reclaimed PPI on them yet (if you can....). It's well worth the cost of a stamp

    Good luck

Thanks for all the support, i'm determined to make good inroads into this debt and its nice to know that i'm not the only one who has been rubbish with money or bad circumstances (both in my case:p)

Lets all just keep taking baby steps and we will get there in the end:T

Hmm. clootiesmum, i'm in a pretty rural villiage. 16 miles from nearest town, twice that to nearest large supermarket. About hr and half from nearest city, the main issues I face are fuel and not being close to places to find work. We also have no piped gas so rely on oil deliverys for heating.
