Is it switched (ie, does it have manual switches) or is it the kind that switches automatically?

If it's the former then that's great! :D
  • There's a "what's hot and what's not at Poundland" thread on the Shop but don't drop board http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=168907&highlight=poundland

My own contributions are the twin packs of Chocolate Finger Biscuits, 12-packs of Rocky Bars, and the boxes of Trackers. All are far cheaper than Tesco sell them for and the use by dates are at least as good and often better. Great packed lunch fillers.

Don't know how effective the search facility is, though. I keep using it to try to find the Altec Lansing 2.1 speakers thread but it doesn't get retrieved regardless of whether I search for 'Altec' or 'Lansing' and select to search the chat forum.

Got some decent looking wallpaper -
Thought I'd got a bargain, but it was awful stuff to hang - all creases and bubbles.
In 30 years of DIY it was the worst ever.
If you see some and are tempted,I would say steer clear!

I got 5 rolls of a lovely green one last year and it went on the walls fine - guess it must depend on the brand they've got in :)
  • Today I found a bargain to share with everyone. I have tried searching and could not find it anywhere, In Poundland a full tray of Pringles 45gm for £1 that makes them just over 8p each. This was in the York store at 5pm this evening. I took them to work and everyone thought they were good - Gourmet Tiger Prawn and garlic flavour.

    Hope this helps.

    my favourite poundland buys are:

    packs of 4 microfibre cloths
plastic containers for fridge/freezer (pack of 2 med, 1 large)
    microfibre hair turban
    rechargable batteries

on a slightly different note my local 99p shop does some fab things, including microfibre towels & turbans, and massive rolls of kitchen roll.

I paid 99p to buy this info from Ebay. Hope this will be useful for someone.

It claimed like Poundland might get their stuff from http://www.delboyswholesale.co.uk/home.html.

This is a super cheap website. Can't find how quality the goods are. Never tried to order any myself. Will do soon as the minimum has to be £50. Recommended!!

And for argos return stock, it's worth to check https://www.argosclearance.co.uk.

This seems like geniune Argos website, unfortunately when I logged in, I had problems with password many times. So never got a chance to view the goods there.

EDITING on 17.02.07: Raswell posted the following info on another page as 'Dont use delboys its a LOT like the name, they take your money send you one or 2 e-mails and you place your order never to see your money again. I know someone who was stung by them last year, thanks to a whois on the domain name they managed to get there money back.'

  • Apologies if this is the wrong place, but thought it was worth posting.

Poundland (Wandsworth) had boxes and boxes of absolutely superb replica tin toys in today. They seem to have originally been for sale in France and "given" away with a magazine. The magazine cost 13 Euros and with it you got a tin toy based one originaly made between 1900-1940. There's a wide variety of cars, planes, people and even a zepplin. Better still, they're all wind up! :j

I found 9 different ones and I noticed the magazine numbers went up to 14. Unfortunately I couldn't find a battleship or the carousel (both shown on the back of other toys) :o(

These were flying out of the packing cases, so get down as soon as you can. I'm back off tomorrow to get another set as gifts, but expect to be disappointed. The toys are not suitable for kids under 14 years.

Here's a link to a French page that lists all the models and shows the things I'm bribbling on about. To give an idea of scale, the items measure around 6 inches each.

    Good hunting.
