  • With E.on I included an additional meter reading for 31st March when I sent them my normal April quarterly meter reading. They then issued two FIT statements but made a single payment into my bank account.

I have now synchronised mine so that they are due on 1 April to avoid this problem. Scottish Power will take a reading as long as it's at least 80 days since the last one, and you can delay a reading beyond 3 months as well if you want to. Incidentally, RPI inflation rate for December was 4.8%, so this will be the figure used for the April increase.

Interesting that you can effectively shift your reading submission forward and backward with Scottish Power.

EDF seem much more rigid, and according to the CSA I was just speaking to they send out reading requests in March, June, September & December (regardless of when your eligibility date was). The March reading would create a payout based on the pre-April 1st rates, and the June reading would create a pay out on the post-April 1st rates. She didn't think they would estimate the reading on the 1st April (the date the rate changes). However she had to check with a colleague to confirm that the rates would be uprated with RPI in April, so I'll take that previous information a pince of salt.

EDF are still processing October applications and typical payment times are 40-50 days (maximum 90 according to the FiT contract terms).

Encouraging, as mine was installed in early November!

Sorry if you've seen this on the other thread. Received from EDF today:
On the 1st April 2012 the Tariff rates for all Feed in Tariffs will increase by 4.8% in line with the Retail Price Index. To calculate your meter reading for the tariff change, our system will calculate an estimated reading for 31st March 2012 and you will receive the new rate as of 1st April 2012. This calculation will be based on the two recent readings being pro-rated over that date period.

If you provide a reading close to the end of March this will result in a more accurate estimation for the 1st April 2012 changes. Please note we are unable to take any readings in April.

We will pay your incentive payment for the energy generated (and exported if applicable), within 90 days of the end of your meter reading month.

Yep EDF only allow readings to be submitted within one of the quarterly months (which are fixed for everyone). The only exception to this are the opening reading (commission date) and the first reading sent when contract is finally ready for signing.

If you happen to be on holiday for the whole of that month, tough (but you'll be very relaxed when you return home).

We've just completed the final steps of returning the signed contract documents and getting the final confirmation letter back from EDF to say that all is now complete.

They were clear that they were hurrying to complete my registration in time for the "March meter reading month" which they achieved. There is/was no mention of the commissioning date reading that you describe above.

When you sent your application, you had to submit the reading on the generation meter. You could use '0' if EDF received the forms within (I think) 7 days of the commissioning date (ie when you started generating).

The next reading was submitted by us in February along with our signed contract once they'd finally drawn this up. If this coincides with a quarterly month EDF will probably just take the one reading. Payment was received last week for this period (commisionning -> contract return).

We've now been invited to submit the March quarterly reading, which I'll be submitting towards the end of the month so that our 31st March estimate generated by EDF is as accurate as possible. That will cover the period contract return -> submission date.
