Hartleys Low Calorie Jelly

I now understand the real meaning of convenience foods being more expensive! For example, I'm on a diet and have been buying Harlteys Low Calorie Jelly pots at 66p per pot. You can buy a sachet for 39p (make your own), just add 1/2 pint hot water & 1/2 pint cold water.... how hard) & you get 8 jellys lol!
So one jelly for 66p or 8 for 39p??
I never really thought about it being expensive as its only 66p but the more you put in your trolley, the more it adds up.
I will use this simple rule more often now when I go shopping, if its available ready made, is there an easy cheaper way to make it myself.
By the way, the jellys set in two hours, not difficult.
Hope I have inspired or made you laugh!
Either way have fun saving at the supermarket.:T

I can think of loads as I work for a supermarket.
Chopped up carrots - £1 for 400g when 400g carrots cost like 30p. Use a knife
Individual rice pudding pots - if you are taking some for a packed lunch, put a third in a small tuppaware box and the rest in another box in the fridge
Small tins of baked beans etc. I live on my own and always buy the full sized ones. I transfer half the tin in a tuppaware box and put in the fridge to use up within the week
. The Philly in the 4 mini pots. A colleague uses a small jam jar to put her Philly in for her biscuits.
. Packs of cream crackers wrapped in lots of 4. What's wrong with a bit of foil?
For those that say plastic food pots are expensive - check out pound shops and cheapy shops like Poundstretcher and I got loads of boxes for about £7 all different shapes and sizes.0 -

As for your carrot analogy, someone with severe arthritis may not be able to peel or chop carrots themselves.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

Agree -not tried the nicer flavors (taller pots not the smaller ones) but they look much nicer- am thinking thats the selling point.
Other OTT prices>>
Pink Lady Apples, weighed one and it worked out to 50p. Buy two boxes of 4 for £3 which works out to 35p each. Buying by hand is now more expensive...?
Grapefruits, in Sainsburys two pink grapefruits are £1.50. Or 45p each. Again, I do not understand.
Getting fresh meat from the deli counter normally works out cheaper by up to 50%.
Soya milk, doesn't seem to matter if its the fresh stuff or the long life stuff, still costs around the same price (£1 a box).
Prawns and fresh seafood. Now if your like me and shop at odd hours when they are getting in a delivery, you can see they put out "fresh" prawns, if you pick them from the fresh shelves too early, you can see they are frozen!! Yet they still cost almost double the cost of the actually frozen stocks! Leave them out for a day and you get the same thing and in most cases more in a packet of frozen then in a box of "fresh"!0 -
