Fixed rate ended, circumstances changed!

    These customer retention products don't involve credit or income checks. If you want one, ask them and they'll change your deal straight away with little paperwork. I imagine a fee will be added to your account and that's pretty much all there is to it.

    I went self-employed and then came to the end of my deal with Santander (wish I hadn't gone self-employed as didn't think about my deal coming to an end) so I was stuck really as I had to really stay with Santander as any new provider wouldn't have wanted me due to my not having x amount of years books to show. So with Santander now, but on a fixed rate which is nowhere near as good as what I was on before (tracker)...still it balances it out in the end...
