Home made bolognese sauce

Options
I'm new to the cooking thing, having brought my first place towards the end of last year. However with the new year came the resolution to eat healthier, meaning no more jar sauces!!

I found a thread on here for Caterina's spaghetti bolognese, which I was going to make this weekend after getting the ingredients from shopping. However I note it mentions you can freeze it...which is good news as it means I can make more than I need and use for another day :D

However the question is do you freeze everything, including the mince I would have cooked, or just the sauce? Sorry if that's a dumb question, but cooking is not my speciality!

Also what's the best "thing" to store it in, while in the freezer, a cassarole dish or plastic tupperware container??

Thanks all for any help

I personally freeze the whole lot, as bolognese and chilli are are go-to meals when we're short of time - I go to evening college 2 days a week and only get about 45 minutes between getting home and having to head out. 10 minutes to boil pasta, mince in the microwave, easy peasy dinner. I know people freeze the sauce and you could just fry up the mince freshly and add the sauce in, so whichever way you prefer.

Btw, I recently did a thread that had loads of ideas for bolognese sauce recipes (as I too want to ditch the jars!) which might be worth a look - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3711013

I cooked up a kilo of mince and froze the lot, I use microwavable takeaway containers (freebies saved from chinese takeaways!), we had our first batch last night and OH was impressed. To quote "I won't lie, it's not Dolmio but it's not bad"

I hope you responded yes it's not Dolmio it's homemade, tastier and healthier ;)
    I'm not that way reclined

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!
  • do both, then you have bolognaise and napoli sauce, which can be used for lots of different variasions (add some tuna, or cream or veg or chicken and chilli when re heating it.
