isme balance query

Hi,
sorry if this is in the wrong place. please feel free to move if necessary.
After a ppi win recently, i decided to pay off my catalogue.
my query is: my last paper statement said my balance was £4773, this included some buy now pay later items of £770 which i made a separate payment for, however after logging on to my on line account, it stated that the balance was £5543! i have not purchased anything in the last 8 months.
i have paid the stated amount on my paper statement of £4773 but am left with an outstanding balance of £770 on my on line account! i have asked them for an explanation and am awaiting a response...
Does anyone know or have any knowledge of how this works! i'm scratching my head to be honest. i want to close the account down but am unable to do so with this balance still showing.

You'd already paid the £770 off? If it is still showing as outstanding then it looks like the payment hasn't been allocated against your account.
If that payment doesn't appear on your online statements then I would contact them to dispute it. Provide details of the date and method you paid the £770 and hopefully they should be able to locate your payment.

(The other alternative is that the £770 was credited to your main account before the £4773 balance statement was generated and that you still owe £770 overall - but I assume you've checked that).

    Hi, thanks for your reply.
yes i have checked, i check my balance on a regular basis and have seen the balance slowly come down over the term! so i don't understand why there is this outstanding balance and why it differs from my paper statement. i shall wait till they get back to me and check again when my next statement is due on the 28th of this month....:undecided

Littlewoods are generally quite good especially since the upgrade to the systems. It maybe one buy now paylater wasnt paid on time and the interest due was added to the account. But I have a major gripe with them I bought a arsenal day out last year on buy now pay later and I sent the item back, they lost it and have never been refunded. I did have the slip which had confirmation but after faxing them I lost it. They didn't get my fax. So I asked for a replacement virgin day. No luck!! I spent over 3k last year with them but I am very upset with them. Not sure if I will do business again
