    Note that unemployment in Spain (and elsewhere in Europe) with a left leaning Government, is now more than double our own, another indication the old utopian Tax and spend economics adored by the Unions, now has little relevance.

    We have this endless argument in Discussion Time where some old lefties are still screaming we get get sustainable well founded growth by spending more.

    Unfortunately I don't know a source for those figures. The youth unemployment rates I gave, as are the other unemployment rates for the Euro Area & EU27, are from Eurostat and they define the unemployment rate as, simply, the number of people unemployed as a percentage of the labour force. The labour force is the total number of people employed plus unemployed. Their definition of unemployed are those who:
    - are without work;
    - are available to start work within the next two weeks;
    - and have actively sought employment at some time during the previous four weeks.

    Nothing to see here ... move along now .......

    But, if you really want a balanced view - employment up - rejoice!

    We cannot recruit in my Company, not at all - we have been desperately seeking young and old for ages now ....... nothing!

    You do need to be highly intelligent, of course, and willing to accept a starting salary around £42,000 .... which is putting a lot of people off, BUT it WILL increase quite quickly once you have proved yourself!

    and what is the role? what field?

    Nuclear Physics, Electronic Design, Mechanical Design, Packaging, Manufacturing Engineers, Tooling Engineers.

    We are absolutely desperate - and paying Contractors £1,000 a day net to cover ...... they won't go Permanent, obviously!

    But, we do expect and will only accept, those who are the very best.

    It is indeed, and bad news for those losing a job.

    Still, I'm sure there will be a vulture somewhere salivating at the thought of picking up a cheap house.

    Why is it that trying to grab anything else on the cheap is called bargain-hunting, but when it comes to houses.....

    Because Hamish might lose out on what he paid.

    That is all.
