BarclayCard / EGG

All,
Long time lurker and recent member here, looking for a little advice.
I have been working to try and clear my debts etc as was pretty reckless previously with my finances. Nothing serious in terms of amounts owed but was reasonably poor in regards to paying a lot of it back.
Anyway, to the point.
I signed up on checkmyfile to assess my record and ensure ive not missed anything in my financial clear up. I however spotted i have 8 (yes 8!!) defaults on an egg card account.
All defaults are dated FEB 2011 - SEP 2011 so are pretty recent and the account states (according to the callcredit column) i owe £51 (equifax column states £0 owed).
However i know for a fact that this card was paid off in full and closed in APR 2008 (even the equifax column confirms this as settled on that date).
I went to the EGG website, which advises that this is now run by barclaycard. I gave them a call and they have no records of me on their system. =/
Does anyone know how i can go about getting these defaults cleared as i clearly dont know anything about this debt and theres not reason as to why a £51 charge shoud appear nearly 4 years after ive closed the account!!
This adds a few more years to a default free credit rating and i would like to be in a postion to go for a mortgage in a couple of years time!
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

You'll need to write to barclaycard and explain the situation and ask them to either explain the entries on your callcredit file or to rectify the record and remove the default.
If you look at your callcredit file it will only be one default - you can only get 1 default for any debt. The other 7 entries will simply be a marker that the account is in default and is still outstanding.
You might want to check you experian file before you write to barclaycard - if its also recorded on there you can add that in to your letter to ask for it to be removed from there as well.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
