in Cutting tax
Hi,
Im posting this on behalf of a friend. They have just setup as self-employed at the back end of last year (sept/oct 2011). The latest self-assesment tax adverts, that have to be submitted by Jan 31st what period does this cover?
I am presuming its April10 - April11, but please correct me if I am wrong. Also, if this is the case, when would my friend do her Sept11 - April12 Tax Return?
Thanks,
xBuNn

Yes, that's correct.
Has she registered as SE with HMRC?
They may well send her a letter telling her to fill in a SA, but that is not till after April 2012. She can register to do it on-line.
deadlines are 31/10/2012 for paper return, 31/01/2013 for on-line.0 -
When I last spoke to her, she mentioned that she had received an automated email from HMRC when she registered as SE initially. She was just worried that she would get fined for not submitting something, but I did presume that it would be the apr10-apr11 tax year that was due, rather than forecasting ahead.
I couldn't imagine the taxman warming to the idea of business's forecasting expected/potential figuresMember #120 £2012 in 2012 - £297.74/£2012 14.79%
