can a bank really charge me for paying extra money on my loan

I have been reading some of the saving money tips on this site. the site says dont save when you have debts pay them off early instead. i agree thats a good idea. when i decided to pay an extra 200 pounds to my loan my bank lloyds tsb told me there would be a charge. CAN THEY DO THIS?

    Why dont you read the terms and conditions and see? If it is a fixed term loan then it is quite likely that they will charge an early repayment penalty as you are not paying in the manner you agreed to when you took out the loan.
