What determines length of Bankruptcy?

Hi,
Now i'm Bankrupt as of today, i was just wondering what things determine the length of time before discharge?

I know its supposed to be 12 months, but i see some people have been discharged earlier than that?!

Being discharged earlier depends on a few factors, but "how busy" the OR office is seems to be an important factor.

When I went BR in December I was told that early discharge was very much a distinct possibility however if they had to write to me for any reason in terms of wanting further info etc then it would default back to the standard 12 months.

People can be held BR for longer than 12 months but it's pretty rare and is usually when the person doesn't comply with the authorities.

also if you have to pay an IPA then that will increase the time you are are under the OR and have to inform them of any extra money you may get,but BR is 12 months unless you're lucky or have it extended because of serious missconduct.
