Great Reasons to be a DFWer!

Now obviously not everyone decided to address their debts in January, but I think we all may need to be mindful of the perks of being a DFWer (aside from the obvious financial benefits)...

Today is known as Blue Monday, which is apparently the day everyone gives up on their New Year Resolutions. So I thought it'd be a good idea to highlight some of the non-financial benefits that frugal and within-your-means living can bring. After all, we all came to this part of the forum for a reason - let's give our motivation a boost! :T

Here are some of my great reasons to be a DFWer!

1. Instead of buying yet more books from Amazon, I'm reading the small library of unread books that are sitting in my bedroom. I can't believe all that entertainment and knowledge was just sitting there unappreciated!

2. Because I'm now cooking all my food from scratch, my diet is a lot fresher and healthier.

3. I get a real kick from knowing that I am starting to make smarter decisions about how I spend my money. I'm no longer a slave to advertisements for material possessions - life is what you do and the relationships you have. Not the car you drive or the clothes you wear.

Please add your own indirect benefits of dealing with your debts, and we can all bask in the glory of how amazing we are!!

  • What a good idea for a thread... thanks.

I personally am amazed and pleased that since I started keeping a spending diary that I have a tiny bit of money left in my account the day before payday.

Also, since I joined the flylady thread I'm spending less money as I'm in the house more, and my house has never looked better.

It feels really good to know you're getting bargains when you're out and about shopping on a budget.
