Out of date Chorizo , shall I use it?

Just noticed a sausage shape piece of chorizo became out of date on 6th January. Would you use it? The shelf life on them is ages so I am inclined to but not sure. It's cured. I was going to make microwave jambalaya with it. Fab good food website recipe. Meat gets really hot so think that would kill any nasties. Any advice gratefully received.

I'd use it, as long as it hasn't started to go furry or anything. I usually buy chorizo from continental markets, which come without BB dates and last for months in the fridge. I'm sure yours will be fine.

    Yep! I would. Enjoy :D
  • ThAt has saved me from a wasted meal. Thanks
  • Chorizo is expensive: hell. even if it had gone a bit furry I'd be inclined to cut off the furry bit and use the rest.

Yeah there was something we used to buy (a sausage type thing) that grew white fur, and we were told it was what it did, and to just scrub the fur off and use it.

Most sausages are crammed with preservatives, and the whole point of sausages and salamis was to preserve the meat, so I'd not give a 6th Jan chorizo a second thought.

    Enjoy!

Chorizo is hung for months to mature it, a few days out of the 'best by' date isn't going to harm you :-)
Can't think of anything smart to put here...
