Trying to find somewhere for Burns Night Supper Belfast/North Down area (25th Jan) I know Linen Hall always do something but cannot seem to find any restaurants/hotels doing anything. Has anybody seen anything advertised I may have missed??

Thanks

    It's moreish!!

I've managed to get the "plastic" wrapped haggis in independent butchers circa £2-3 but never the proper stomach lined type. M & S typically stock haggis this time of year too.
  • Thanks - I'll have a look. :)

Lot's sold online in ebay etc. but maybe that is a bit of a risk.

I have tried it a few times while visiting Scotland and once at a Burns night (private event in NI). It varies in taste greatly in my experience. Before trying it I thought it would be meaty like black or white pudding, but it is like a spicy oatmeal crumble or stuffing for a turkey. The spice is not to everybody's taste. The ones I tasted seemed to have quite a lot of cinnamon and/or nutmeg in it which I did not expect.

However, if drunk with at least 6 glasses of scotch whisky it can taste fine.

  • Waitrose do Veggie and Carnivore Haggis.(Their selection of Veggie Pates look good as well!). I haven't yet tried Haggis and wonder what it tastes like. I must sort out Burns Night for myself also.
