Prospective Employer left me a voicemail and then wasnt very nice
vindicated
Hey Folks,
I applied for some jobs and chased up one i sent my CV in to. The branch manager left a voicemail and told me if successful id hear in four weeks.
They obviously forgot to hang up the phone and started !!!!!ing about me to someone else in the room saying "He porbably wont get it, if he hasnt heard then he hasnt heard" in a really derogatory tone.
Looking for advice on what should be done? It was very ignorant and frankly quite rude, true comments probably go along like "well do you really want to work for them" but its the principle...should i say something to HR or what not?
I actually REALLY hope i get offered the job, show how good i am as im qualified in that field and then politely remind them of their error.
Im so angry, cant believe someone like that obtained a branch manager role!!
Arrrgh!

saying something to HR probably wont achieve anything except getting them to check they have hung up properly.

Just move on. Chalk it up and be glad you don't work for them.
D70How about no longer being masochistic?
How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?0 -
Agreed. Let it go.
Console yourself with the thought that if that person was careless about hanging up with you, one day he'll likely be careless hanging up with somebody else. Like, say, his wife or his boss.0 -
I'd ring him back and just go;
"Thanks for getting back to me, but I think your phone was faulty, I heard some rather unpleasant things as you failed to end the call."
Then explain that you're withdrawing your application as you don't want to work for such a w****r. Then laugh as he squirms and gets all embarrassed.0 -
I honestly think you are taking offence at not much. Yes, it's unfortunate that you overheard this as it's never nice to hear yourself being discussed, but what he said wasn't actually rude, if what you quote is all he said. It's not like he insulted you, called you names, or made a comment directly about you. He was just commenting to one of his colleagues that as you hadn't heard by now, you probably haven't got the job. (He could be wrong though so don't lose hope).Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0 -

many places wouldnt even bother to do that
Im sure we have all moaned at work about something/someone in our day to day dealings0 -
The only error made by the branch manager was forgetting to hang up. The comments were not offensive, more a reflection of the current job market. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
