P60 not same as payslips

When a P60 is not tallying with March's payslips could there an easy explanation why this happening or is the employer not doing their salaries correctly.

The figures on your last payslip should match the figures on the p60

and we will never, ever return.
  • Isn't a P60 the annual round-up of your year's salary, tax, NI, etc? (or am I getting confused with something else?!) If it is, you don't get one until the end of the tax year - i.e. end of April/beginning May, surely?

Correct, I'd guess the OP is looking at it again as they're completing a tax return

The end of the tax year is 5th April so for monthly paid people the P60 would normally based on your end of March payslip.

Is there a figure on the March payslip for 'gross pay to date' and 'taxable pay to date'? It is the taxable figure that should go on the P60.

Your P60 will not include non-taxable pay, such as pension, share-incentive, childcare vouchers, expenses etc. These will all be on your payslip.
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

thanks everyone for helpful replies. Payslips are over £100 difference to the P60, no pension, share-incentive, childcare vouchers, expenses etc. It looks like employer has been very sloppy with tax stoppage.

or it could be the bit 1 - 5 April up until the end of the tax year. That'd be £100 or so for many people.
    Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.

As has been said March payslips wont be the same as p60 as year end is around April 6th, you need to find week 52or 53 ( some years 53 weeks) and then compare it

Most employers use computerised packages for PAYE

A week would not make that much difference as it is a part time job with low pay. The end of the year payslips has the largest amount for tax, end of year, and April payslip shows the start for tax for the following year. Some payslips are missing for March and employer has been asked to provide them.
