Are these another way of discrimination?
I understand for jobs like working with vulnerable people and children and even working with money. But why would you need one to be a fork lift driver or any other factory/warehouse environment. It is amazing that i have seen adverts asking for up to date CRB for these positions.

It may be possible to thieve from some warehouse environments - I'm thinking of parcel delivery, but it could happen in other situations too. Maybe that is the reason?
My ex used to work for Securicor as a parcels delivery driver, and although they didn't have to have CRBs (which were a lot less common in those days anyway), the company had a policy whereby they could search driver's bags before thay left work or to go on a delivery run. There were parts of the warehouse and yard that were not covered by CCTV. They weren't searched every time, but at random times. Parcels sometimes burst open and I believe that there were employees that were fired after these searches revealed that items had been taken from burst parcels before they were taped up again.0 -

A clear disclosure at this point may simply show that one hasn't been caught yet.
Op, next time you come across this, ask the employer why a disclosure is a requirement.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
Yes it is, and quite right too.Are these another way of discrimination?

They might well still be a thief or a violent crim, just not yet caught. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
Ohreally, I know that a clean CRB just means that someone hasn't been caught yet, but that is true for enhanced disclosures for those working with children and vulnerable people as well. I just offered a possible explanation.0

You don't need a crb to be a fork lift driver and strictly speaking they "can't" legally ask for one.But why would you need one to be a fork lift driver or any other factory/warehouse environment. It is amazing that i have seen adverts asking for up to date CRB for these positions.
An employer can only ask for a CRB check for jobs where an employee will come into contact with vulnerable adults or young people.
In reality though an employer can ask for a CRB check for anything they like and the CRB will process it after the receipt of their fee. Happens all the time, the only people who could stop it are CRB but they make money from it so that's not going to happen.0 -

Employers should not be asking for CRBs unless the type of employment is on a list for which CRB's are required. As I understand it. For a fork lift driver, such a request is almost certainly not legal.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I only mentioned the fork lift driver as an example as i had seen it on a vacancy advertised by an agency, I can understand about certain types of warehouses but those warehouses normally have hand held scanner searches and searches after the end of every shift.0
