Proof of income

Hello, Im new to the forum and would like to ask for some advice please.
Me and my partner would like to move home, we currently have a Halifax mortgage and were thinking of porting our mortgage with them.
I am employed so can provide payslips for the last three months. However my partner is officially employed by his family business run by himself and other family members. He does not recieve payslips but is not classed as self employed. Would the Halifax accept a confirmation of earnings letter from one of his family members as proof of earnings?

His accounts would be better. Tax returns? Bank statements showing credits.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

    What is his shareholding?

  • Thank you both. I think his shareholding is 25% but I would need to check thats right. If he could just show bank statements that would be easy.
A friend of mine in a similar situation said they were able to just write a letter to their mortgage company stating what they earned and that letter was treat as correct with no checks!! We would never lie on application but sending a letter would be so stress free.

If the credit score pass is high enough, he may be asked for nothing. However, Halifax does reserve the right to ask for evidence of income at any time and does accept SA302s for the self employed.

Lenders tend to treat those with more than 20% equity in a business as they do the self-employed.

If your partner requests evidence of his income from HMRC, this is likely to be acceptable to Halifax if he backs it up with copies of his bank statements showing his salary credits.
