P60 and Statement of Earnings

I have I am resolving an issue with the tax office that i am resolving and I need 6 years previous earnings and tax paid informaton for the returns.

Long story but I do not have the P60's so contacted the payroll provide McKessons that deal with my employers payroll.

They have advised me they can supply the information requested but at a cost of £420.

Now can they do this leagally and if they can, am I able to obtain this information elsewhere?

Why don't you ask HMRC for it?

If you have the last (March) payslip of the financial year this should have the same information as the P60 - otherwise ask the tax office for a printout from their system.

You are effectively making a Subject Access Request (SAR) under the Data Protection Act. The maximum fee that can be charged for a SAR is £10.

Most probably because its needed before 31st Jan and with HMRC there is no certainty that it will be d/w before then.
