Career advice?

Hi, I'm not new to MSE, I just opened a new account for privacy reasons.
Basically, I am looking for a new job at the minute as I have been unemployed for around eleven months now! I am applying for anything suitable as my first priority is just to get back into employment. However, I don't just want to be stuck in low-paid, dead end jobs all my life so I would like to try and make a career for myself but I have no idea what this could be.
I really enjoy things like writing and editing and I also really enjoy researching things
I have done a bit of freelance copy-editing in the past but it was not easy to make a living in this capacity. I have also worked in admin and care.
Does anyone have any career suggestions that involve things like writing, editing and research? Which does not involve going back to university?

Would it be rude to ask why you dont want to go back to education? you could write and research doing that and if you took a course that covered a wide topic area you might find something you didnt even know you liked ? :-)0
