Clothes Dye?

I'm looking to dye a few clothes back to black that are looking a bit worse for wear. (rather than throw away).
Where can I get cheap but good value black dye, and is it better to hand dye or machine dye?

I don't know about cheap but our local hardware store sells dye. I have always used the machine and they work well.
I wish I had known about dyeing things back to black years ago as I used to chuck faded stuff out
Even stained pale coloured stuff can be dyed a darker colour to get more wear from them - I was such a doofus!Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

Wilkinsons often sell it, as do any hardware stores, or ebay.
I like the machine dyes because they don't make as much mess as the cold water ones, but do watch that they are suitable for the type of fabric you want to colour.:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
I find machine dyeing is far more reliable and I have use many hand dye methods with different materials over the years. I prefer Dylon, easiest to get and reliable results. Black and navy can often be bought at some of the big supermarkets.Put the kettle on.
