DWP vacancies - Working Locations form

Options
Has anyone got to the stage of receiving the Working Locations form yet? If so does it just cover locations in the specific area you have applied for or can you say you are interested in locations in other areas? I'm just wondering whether I need to repeat my application if I'm interested in working in (say) North Scotland where I live now and in Thames Valley where I might be moving to.

As far as I'm aware the recruitment is done per District. Therefore the locations pref would only ohave locations within the District that you have applied for. Districts are independent of each other. I would suggest you apply for each area/district that you wish to work in to maximise your chances.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks, that seems to tie in with what posters in other threads have assumed. Do you have any specific knowledge that what you say is correct? I ask because I had my 3 month JSA interview today and asked the advisor who interpreted it as only one application being required, with the location form covering the whole of the UK.

Well I worked for Jobcentre Plus for just over a year on a fixed term contract from November 2009 - December 2010. I would suggest you just do more than one application.

I managed (after several attempts) to get through to someone on the DWP recruitment phone number, who said that if you've applied in one area and passed the online test then if you want to be considered for other areas you should apply there too, but you won't need to take the test again. I suppose this makes sense, otherwise people would be able to alter their answers to try to get a better score. I will try this out this afternoon and report back.

Test is valid for 6 months :> (in theory this is pan-CS so in any other jobs come up you won't need to re-do the test within 6 months)

I can confirm that a second application did not require the online test to be taken.

I received Working Location forms for both applications this morning, each one contains drop down lists for you to select both the places that you are prepared to work and those that you won't consider, within the single district that you have applied for each time.

Same here, last time I applied I got that form after I had finished the interview. I think it was better that way as you got to choose over the whole London district rather than two in one district but it saves time on shifting applications for interviews I suppose.
  • Do you know if I should be expecting a response after submitting the Working Locations form?
  • Hi Sezzy,
I have applied and not received any notification re locations, I have also queried this at work ( am FTA in JCP) and asked everyone who has applied ( all the FTA staff that have left!) and no one has received anything back. My line manager said not to worry. I even tried phoning shared services but the line was constantly engaged and then went dead. Good luck to all who applied. :)
