supermarket delivery

After moving to a lovely new house in a lovely location, and after feeling the pinch at christmas time, I decided to go back to getting my shopping delivered online to save us some money, with three children this seemed the right thing to do. I was astonished to realise that although Argos, Amazon, Game etc will all deliver to my new build house, Asda and Tesco DO NOT!!! I have lived in this house now for 3 months, have received my notification from royal mail 10 weeks ago, however, Asda and Tesco still do not recognise my post code. I phoned them and they say that royal mail have not passed on the post code to them and when I phoned royal mail they said that Asda and Tesco have not checked for the post code as it is all online. Can anyone tell me why this happens? It doesn't seem to make sense and Can anyone let me know what kind of timescale I have to wait until this postcode is recognised by these large supermarket companies? I feel very frustrated that in this day and age and with all the modern technology, I still cannot order my shopping online!!!! Thanks

  • At work we used a system that used postcodes, but the way we used it we were sent quarterly update disks rather than using the online system. This meant it could be anywhere from 3-6 months in between updates depending on when we had time to do them. Perhaps they do the same?

We moved to a new build of May of last year and had our first Tesco delivery 3 days later. We did however have major issues with Mamas and Papas who couldn't recognise our post code, they said they couldn't take the money so they tried again, still didn't work but went through on the third attempt. Would have been good if they have told us that this would mean that the money would be taken for a holding period of 7 days (all three amounts) which came to over £1.5K!! M&P's refused to admit it was their fault, the bank said it wasn't their fault. Lots of tooing and froing but....as custardy says they basically haven't updated their system with your address. When they do they will be able to deliver. Takes most companies a good few months. I think we had issues with approx 6-7 different places and now they all deliver.
