Get a Nintendo Wii now for £179.99

With the Nintendo Wii still in high demand and sold out in most places, I have noticed a handful of retailers are blatantly profiteering by either selling it at a highly inflated price or making you buy an expensive bundle with games you don't actually want.
Here is one tip on how to beat them at their own game!
The stock at retailer Game is actually showing as out of stock but if you click on this link they are actually selling a bundle with 4 games at £334.95. Under their own terms and conditions, you can return unused items within 28 days for a no-quibble refund.
So here is the tip..
Buy the bundle at £334.95 (don't forget Quidco, plus if you have a games reward card, claim your points!). When you receive it, return the games for a refund (I have tried this). And you get the Wii for £179.99! If you still want the games then you can get them much cheaper using tips on this site or sites such as Hot Deals
Hope this is of use to someone. Game tend to have more stock than most and at time of writing stock is still available. If it is out of stock, keep checking back!

Are they GUARANTEED to refund the games though? Is there a link regarding their policy on bundled games?
Its a bit of a risk otherwise!0 -
Here's the pertinent wording from their T&C's:
Please note items bought in 'bundle deals', such as 2 for £30.00 or hardware and software packs, if returned separately, will result in the full price being charged for other items in the special offer - and the refund adjusted accordingly.
The 4 games bought separately from Game add up to £155. £335 minus 155 = £180!0 -

I read this differently, they will charge you the full price for the wii and only refund you the difference between a full price wii and the bundle deal (not the other way around), may aswell just buy the wii on its own.......BUT if it has worked for you then great!0 -

Don't know if it will work the same way but when the 360 was released GAME done packages with about 5 games and people ended up phoning customer services and they in turn phoned the store telling them to sell the machine minus the games to the customer
Don't know how true this is but may be worth a shot as retailers are trying to get the most out of gamers by selling them unwanted packages0 -
dont know about the rules now (the t&c look the same), but when the xbox 360 came out in dec 2005 i did the same thing. they were selling with a bundle of 4 or 5 games. bought it online and took the games back to store new and unused saying i didnt want them. was left with an xbox 360 at the normal retail price.0

Of course, but I don't see them in plentiful supply, do you? I think you have misunderstood here, this is an 'easy' way to get a console for the RRP, which are still very difficult to get hold of. The fact that this is £335 is putting a lot of people off buying, but armed with the info in this thread you can now get a Wii console on its own for £180.0 -
Quick update on this..
I have bought 3 of these bundles now and returned the games to different stores all successfully. One of the stores tried to claim that because it was a bundle they couldn't refund, but as a one off they would 'do me a favour' and give me vouchers back instead! Luckily I was armed with a print out of the T&Cs and they soon backtracked!
I see Game are now out of stock again but they are usually back in for a couple of days every week or so so keep checking.
Also, sorry if I wasn't clear on the intention of this post. This is not advice on how to get a Nintendo Wii for less than the RRP. Currently all Wiis are selling on average between £210-250 on eBay so this is advice on how to get one for the RRP of approx £180 which you should consider a bargain at this point in time. They are still like gold dust.0 -
You can buy it by iself anyways for that price, why go through the hassle?
I know this because I bought one myself from Game for £179.99 lol0 -

Yes, but either you were VERY lucky or you fail to mention that you had to order it and wait a few days.
Every single shop that you expect to have the Wii has no stock in store including Argos, HMV, Virgin, Gamestation, Woolworths, Toys R Us, I could go on...
Lucky for you that you got one for 179.99, this thread is obviously not intended for you then is it?!!0
