ccj getting me in trouble

I have a ccj that the courts agreed that I should pay at £40 a month which i did. I later upped it to £100 as i had some spare cash per month and wanted to clear the debt.

Problem is....For a debt that started at £5000 2-3 years ago i have paid back £4000 but the debt remains at £4700 with interest etc. I am no longer in a position where the £100 a month is viable so i rang the debt company and asked if they would reduce it back down to the original amount of £40 and they said NO!!! Is there anything I can do?

Ring the court up, if it was a court order to pay £40 a month I dont see how they can say 'no' to be honest.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Surely once it has a Default / CCJ I thought all interest stopped?
  • I agree with McKneff, ring the court. I don't see how they can say no because that payment of £40 is still a payment. But definitely see what the court say.
    Getting there.. slowly but surely...
    Debt - Was £14,300, now £6,500..

    Keep soldiering on!! :D
  • might also be worth asking the debt company for a breakdown of payments,i cant see how the debt has only reduced by £300 even with court costs.
agree with tremour_88 about the interest, but im not certain, even so that would be a lot of interest.
  • Ill ring them monday and see what happens. I do hate this payment every month- even more so when i saw that the payment has bearly reduced.
