Quidco/Hastings Direct

Friend of mine had an insurance through Quidco and Hastings Direct, should have got 42 quid cashback, was logged by Quidco,but turned down by Hastings, when my friend emailed Hastings she was told she hadnt used Quidco but had had a quote off Hastings direct and cookie stayed on and over rode the Quidco - so for the sake of a wrong cookie code they aint paying, she has emailed them 3 times and had various responses but they are sticking to their guns, one reply says that most cashback sites tell you to clear old cookies before going through Quidco - how pathetic - was thinking would it help by telling my friend to write to the MD of Hastings???

Thanks for your help, it has now been explained to me that it was a cookie error and the wrong code was applied,evidentally my friend had a quote then went through Quidco and the old cookie was applied - a timely reminder before using any cashback site to clear all history/cookies before going through the cashback site.
