HERE'S MY POST FROM THE ROLL OF HONOUR THREAD:
Wow! Well, today's the day the final payment to my car loan went out, making me officially debt-free!
It's been a long time since I had no debt - about 1999, I think.
My lightbulb moment was more of a gradual turning on of a light, than a sudden realisation.
I found Martin's book at my work back in 2003. I used it to budget, which was great, but still spent on credit cards, and would transfer balances without ever really paying them off.
Finally, I came to this site in tears, and got so much fantastic support, that I got a grip.
I knuckled down and started paying my debts off one by one.
At last I had just this zero per cent car loan, and today, the final payment went out of my bank account!
So that's it - no more debt.
At their highest, my debts were a bit over 7k, which might no be loads compared to some, but they scared me.
My DFD? Today! 9 February 2007
