Updated default
I took out a car loan with the infamous Welcome Finance in 2004. I had a lot of problems with it and other matters and defaulted on the loan at the beginning of 2005. The last time I acknowledged the debt or had any contact with the company direct was 6/1/2006 and this is the date that has shown on my credit report since then. Imagine my surprise when checking my report this week to see that the details had been updated on 18/12/'11 by MKDP LLP.
Can they do this? I have at no time discussed this debt with anyone let alone this company and had hoped it would now be gone. Would be most grateful for any advice.

New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
It isn't 6 years from when you last "spoke" to them or "acknowledged" it.
It is 6 years after the default was recorded that it drops off.
I don't know why it has become updated though - someone more versed will hopefully explain.0 -

Got some advice on another forum. It should be 5 years as I live in Scotland. Looked at CRA entry from July 11 which clearly shows the default date as 4/1/2006. (not 6/1). Yet MKDP's update shows default as 1/1/10. Clear falsification of data and have written to both them and the CRA.
cheers!0 -
Post on debt free wannabe, including any info from your credit file such as who updated it. Sometimes DCAs change the default date when they take over a debt, which is wrong.:beer:0
