Newbie to site here ,help needed please. Today i received a letter from BCW saying they were acting on behalf of Aktiv. I have never heard of this company before and i want to know what i should do. Do i ring to find out what the debt is i am supposed to owe or do i write to them?

What happens if it is a debt that is over 5 years old and was covered my ppi, which wasn't claimed on (due to finishing work with a physical and mental health problem)?

I would start by checking your credit record. You need to know when the default on this debt was raised.

if you have not paid in the last 6 years or made written acknowledgement, then it is probably statute barred. That meand you do not have to pay.

If it is less than 6 years, then I suspect you can claim the PPI.

In the mean-time do not respond to the letter incase you re-set the period of liability.

Post back when you have the default info, please.
