Pent up demand does not equal ability to pay. Plenty of households with no or low earners. How are they going to afford to pay huge rents and house prices, especially now that the taxpayer won't pick up the housing benefit tab?0 -
ability to pay will offset the supply issues
hence prices wont be going anywhere really for a few years to come'Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.'

What the guy from Barratts said is that there is an 80,000 house/ year building shortfall - that doesn't seem too controversial.
Not sure where the million shortfall comes from. 80,000 x 4 = 320,000 building shortfall between now and the end of 2015. Does that mean we already have a shortfall of 680,000 houses?
Wait a minute - it's the Daily Mail - who cares?0
