First Direct £125 incentive, I'm short of £150pm income but...

Hi

Wanting to apply for the First Direct account with the £125 incentive as heard good things and been wanting to switch for ages. Problem is I bring in £1350 after tax every month, so do not fulfil the minimum salary requirement, I can top this up through my savings each month via standing order.

Has anyone applied to First Direct and been successful in getting the incentive this way?

I got the FD incentive without having to pay in my salary (and I still don't). On the application there was a box to tick for funding from other sources if you didn't have a salary (or not enough salary). It was a few years ago so things might have changed.

Im sure they dont mind how your funds get in there, as long as its 1500pcm. I think I read somewhere that someone was just transferring in and out purely for the incentive.

    Five separate questions here

1 - what are their income requirements for opening an account

2 - what do you have to do to avoid the monthly fee

3 - what do you have to do to get the £100 switching bonus

4 - do you have to do any more to get the extra £25 from the Moneysupermarket offer

5 - what do you have to do to get the £100 leaving bonus, if you're after that as well.

As specified in their T&Cs & many other threads here.
2 - what do you have to do to avoid the monthly fee
As specified in some of the many other threads on FDs £100 switching going around MSE at the moment. Open an eSaver & put £1 in it. Job done.
3 - what do you have to do to get the £100 switching bonus
Tells you all in their T&Cs
4 - do you have to do any more to get the extra £25 from the Moneysupermarket offer
Clear your cookies & click through moneysupermarket.
5 - what do you have to do to get the £100 leaving bonus, if you're after that as well.
As per their T&Cs - "if you're not happy and want to leave after 12 months...." or something to that effect.

Most/all of your questions are answered on the T&Cs link.

As a customer of FD - I have found that since I became unemployed and therefore skint they are one of the nastiest banks around. Alas, I cannot switch banks as yet so I am trapped. Yes, they may have a UK based call centre and they may seem nice but be wary because they are evil.

    In what way?

Surely you have more than one bank account? Most people on these forums seem to have 3 or 4, if even just to snap up new incentives.

Get your £1300, take £200 out cash straight away and pay it back it (via an HSBC branch)

I doubt a human being actually looks at the account and that any funding will do.

For the 2 minutes it takes for a member of staff to check the account, it's probably worth it for the £100 they are giving out. Halifax do this, FD may or may not.
