Advice please - DVSL/Capquest

I have just got into work and my boss has told me the following story.

She had her step son living with her about 2 years ago. They then had a big fall out and she has no idea where he lives now. As far as she is aware he didnt run up any debt whilst living with her (she looked after alot of his finances)

Yesterday it appears this debt collection agency has been contacting her neighbours asking whether her step son lives at their address. They are called DVSL but the phone number is related to a company called CapQuest.

Surely they are not allowed to contact neighbours in this manner? My boss has told them he doesnt live with her anymore but they obviously dont believe her.

I have no experience in this so thought I would ask the great Sages of MSE for some advice please.

If they have said or implied in some way that it is in regard to an unpaid debt, then that is very wrong.

It appears they have been very careful not to mention what they do but they have mentioned who they are, and one of the neighbours googled them and obviously came up with what they do.

I told her to phone Trading Standards to see whether they can do anything but apparently not as they didnt mention they were debt collection. I guess there is little more she can do. Needless to say she is hopping mad
