Either a pioneer 220 or 420 I think or Panasonic E85 both around £300 are your best bets at present0

REMEMBER
These dvd recorders All have the soon to be redundant Analogue Tuners
Maybe a good choice would be to get a Freeview pvr like Fusion 150T (80g HD) for £169, with £10 voucher at Argos, and get a computer based dvd recorder like nec 3510 (16x) for around £40 to record from the fusion (to archive). Thus keeping any old domestic dvd player you have bought and Moneysaving into the bargain.ac's lovechild0 -

Isn't analogue switch off not till 2012 though? as long as you connect a freeview/cable/sky input into the box you should have no problems with most of the current stock, by the time it's analogue switch off there will be lots of digital tuner recorders around, for current proces may aswell got one now as quality still far outstrips vhs0 -
Woby analogue switch off is to be done by ITV regions and starts in Border 2008, so sooner than a lot of people think.ac's lovechild0
