Looking for euro mortgage

Hi,

Not sure if this forum covers euro mortgages, but thought it was worth asking.

I am looking to buy a property in France (I live in the UK) for a low value - 40k euro + 30k renovation. I have 20% deposit.

Does anyone know of UK or French banks who might lend this amount - it is quite low for most places? Or brokers who deal with this kind of thing?

Thanks Mark

Lenders who did lend to UK citizens, in euros and also on properties in France are/were ...

    Abbey (now Santander of course)
Barclays & Woolwich (who are now one and the same, with Woolwich now dealing with the mge business)
BNP (who are a french bank, who have had a presence in the UK for a number of yrs, and were a panel lender on many mge broker desks)
Nwide BSociety - did lend in Euros, but not on overseas property (that may have changed)

General max LTV between lenders providing a euro mge, ranged from 65% - 75%

Due to the turmoil surrounding the euro, may be worth considering purchasing in Strerling from a UK provider who lend on mainland european property ?

Or even releasing equity from main residence to pch the property outright (which may be easier said than done, depending upon your circs of course)

Anyway hope the above gets you started ..... of course a visit to a broker won't go a miss, they will do all the leg work for you, source a suitable lender & product, and support you throughout the whole application process. (do check you are happy with their fee matrix before proceeding)

You can easily google the main lenders I have noted above before you see a broker, but ...

BNP may no longer operate through intermediaries so I have located a direct link to their mge business for you .. http://international-buyers.bnpparibas.com/french-mortgage/home/

Hope this helps and good luck !

    Holly
