Hi have trawled through many examples with reference to DWP EO jobs but still need some advice please guys :S Has anyone had an application form recently ? They seem to now be asking the competency based questions on the application form ? ie
I have looked at the framework etc and there seem to be loads of sub categories under each heading anyone shed any light on how to apply/answer them? Do i just pick one from each comp?

  • Aww Thanks for your support ! Its not that i am incapable, was just doing a bit of research and asking if anyone is aware of the changes and could advise on how many of the sub headings i should use for first application example so i dont repeat myself at my interview

would recommend you look at doing bullet points for each sub heading and then developing your statements. what you did, how you did it and what was the end result . have you read the support pack on the dwp website . when i applied for an eo job with another department i tried to use examples from college, previous jobs and also my voluntary work. also found if you do search on internet for
DWP Competency Framework for the Customer Insight Profession it is quite useful
the statements need to show when you have been customer focused, managed performance or people etc. This does not need to be in a work environment - have you been a team captain in sports for example?
Building capability - this can apply to individuals or teams and is about whether you can give examples of getting the most out of people including yourself - personal development opportunities and growing your experience and knowledge.
it's best to focus me on what you have done, how you did it and what the successful outcomes were. Any examples are acceptable from all areas of life - keep them honest and real and concentrate on "I" and "me" not they or he or she - it is you they want to know about.

    good luck.
  • hey ive just put in my application, also done the test today. it was quite tough, but its done now.. worried if im honest.
Life is tough - Either we make it, or we Loose it..
  • You need to think about what the situation was, what you did, how you did it and what the outcome was. 200 words is not enough so you need to really look at removing anything thats not relevant to the example. Good luck!
