Jowever, I do wonder how he'll manage if he's left on his own!

There must be an echo where I am. I heard the self same thing just minutes ago!

I can install washers / cookers etc ..... I just don't know what they're used for. They don't seem to have passwords. If I'm left on my own I regret it will be coffee and biscuits for the rest of my natural.

Right - sorry for the diversions OP !!

Oh dear!! I can recommend the M&S meals, also Sainsbury "Taste the Difference", and even Tesco "Finest". Waitrose is good too, but we don't have many of them up here.

You need to get those things called "User Manual", or "Instructions", and actually read them, an alien concept for the male of the species I know, but needs must!

Just to even up the male/female divide - I manage all the money, whether in my name or my husband's, AND have all the passwords. He finds money boring (as long as he has enough to do what he wants) and is quite happy for me to deal with everything (that means saving/paying the bills etc etc).
However, I do wonder how he'll manage if he's left on his own!

Pretty much the same here, but now that we are retired, I have INSISTED that he take a little interest in what is going on!

Luckily he likes "computer things", so has set up a password protected spreadsheet with all the accounts, passwords etc, and has also been persuaded to start keeping records of our main current account to keep tabs on "cash flow".

Spreadsheet includes all the credit and debit card details, so I hope he has it really well protected!

We don't have any S&S ISAs (not enough savings to diversify into those) only cash, and mainly in 1 or 2 places, so pretty easy to keep tabs on.

He will have to learn to read instructions, but he is not too bad at cooking. I think our daughter would probably be keeping an eye on his welfare anyway!

I've heard of them! We've had a couple of M&S ready meals when arriving at a holiday cottage for example - I wasn't enthralled. But I do 'Ocado' - think they're brilliant. So I'll have to see if there is a 'useless male' section?

Oh I can do those. It's things like seperating your coloureds and your whites that I can't cope with. Is that the microwave or the dishwasher? I think I could do a basic meat and veg meal. It's just that the meat and the veg would be ready on different days!

I can manage 500 staff without a problem. But having clean clothes etc is a real issue for me! If they're not in the wardrobes - where else would one find them?

Hmm, what did you do to the M&S meals?! They are usually good. We only occasionally have the microwave ones, it's not them I mean. The Italian ones are pretty good.

Most others are for 2 people, so you either need a replacement Mrs mikeyorks, or learn how to divide dishes in two and freeze half of them!

The one person Indian and Chinese dishes are very acceptable, much better than a "carry out".

Ocado don't deliver here as yet, what do they have?

You will soon learn about "whites and coloureds" when you have fetchingly purple coloured white shirts!!

I've suggested a younger model several times .... but it only provokes a petulant outburst. She's actually a very good cook - hence my total and utter reliance - as she terms it!

But it's no good telling me to divide dishes into two - I wasn't joking about the meat and veg being ready on separate days. And not necessarily consecutive days at that. 'Don't have a dog and bark yourself' is my motto as regards the mystery of food preparation. But it's unwise to say that - as it's about the only thing I say that she hears first time.

Virtually everything including lots of Waitrose stuff. We started out buying lots of cereals where supply has dried up in the local stores - progressed onto bulk purchases such as toilet / kitchen rolls - and then added joints / fillet of Aberdeen Angus where their price and quality beats the local butchers. I'm a fan. So is my wife - but I suspect that's because those purchases somehow get added to my cashback CC as opposed to her housekeeping budget! That's one source of cash she has sussed out .... getting mildly back on topic!

Mmm....that is not surprising! Where is your tact? i think she has you sussed!

I have suggested to OH (he being +6 years) that I might consider a younger model if he does not tidy the garage.....but he seems to think I am just kidding!

He may get a surprise one day!
