Halifax mortgage problems

Last year I started making arrangements with Halifax to get my ex removed from our joint mortgage. We signed all the paperwork and it was submitted in Sepetember, and it still has not been sorted!
I have made countless calls to the branch and even visited a few times, the only guy who can help me is the mortgage advisor, who is no help at all. It is like the guy has fallen off the face of the Earth. I finally got a call from him in November saying the delay was due to a 'systems error' and would be resolved in a few days.
Here we are in the middle of January and still no word, still no reply to my countless calls. I have escalated this by sending an email to Halifax complaints department, I have also phoned up and spoke to somebody in Mortgage Progressions, who said he contact the advisor with my complaint, still no word.
I just don't know what else to do, I want to move away from the area as I work in another city but I just can't do anything until this is resolved and Halifax just don't seem to care!
Any suggestions would be much appreciated guys.

    I would bite the bullet and get a solicitor involved, its a simple Transfer of Equity and should cost no more than £300, however Halifax have to agree and they will work out if the remaining party can afford the mortgage, if they deem it is not affordable then you will not be allowed to leave the mortgage contract and will remain a party until the property is sold. Good Luck

    You've done the right thing by complaining, but I suggest you get in touch with complaints again and use the following wording;

    Halifax has not abided by the FSA's Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) rules, specifically;

    OUTCOME 1 - customers can be sure they are dealing with firms where the fair treatment of customers is CENTRAL to the corporate culture

    OUTCOME 3 - customers are provided with clear information and KEPT INFORMED during the process
