Salary calculation for SOA

Does anyone know - how would we determine my husbands salary for the SOA, as his monthly salary can change month on month (basic plus commission)? Do you use an average, and if so, over how long?

Also, following BR, will he need to send in his payslips on a regular basis due to his fluctuating salary? (Thinking in terms of and IPA)

I forget how long he has been in his job/at this salary and commission basis so forgive me...

Generally you would take an average of the last 12 months. If his pay terms have changed more recently than that then do an average from the first full pay month when things changed.

Each OR's office seems to work differently with regard to flutuating earnings. Some are happy with the average as an ongoing figure, others wants 3 monthly updates and still others copy payslips every month. So it's hard to say until you've had your interview and know what your OR's office wants from him.
