Leather or nylon bag - advice please

I'm wanting a cross body bag for convenience and there are two in M and
S that I like, one is leather at £39 and the other is nylon at £8. They have lots of the nylon ones but only one of the leather in black, the rest are navy which I don't want so
I need to make a decision before the black one goes. I do have some vouchers to spend so the cost isn't really an issue, though if I get the cheaper bag I can get more out of the vouchers. The leather bag looks better and will no doubt last longer but the nylon one will be nice and light. Any advice please?

I would say it is ok and certainly is very lightweight, not a huge amount of room inside the main compartment - I measured it and I think it is only a fraction smaller then the leather one, same width and maybe one or two cm shorter. I haven`t used it greatly so not sure how durable it will be. If you are only carrying the bare essentials like keys, phone and purse it should be great but if you have to cram in lots of stuff the leather bag would be stronger.

If you are ordering online why not order both to compare in the flesh? I would love a good quality leather bag but they are so heavy before I even start filling with my junk.

    Happy shopping,

    SM
  • I think the nylon bags look like something an elderly lady would have when upgrading from a market stall.

Leather always looks classier and more expensive than nylon - but it depends on how you will be using it, for example if you are a student / casual dresser then maybe the nylon would suit you better?

I have got two of the Radley messenger bags in leather. One is the small size in bright pink and the other is medium and in tan. Both very nice and useful. However, my daughter bought me a nylon Radley bag for Christmas which I wear across the body. It is in a taupe colour with a beige dog and various pinky coloured spots printed on it. It is great. Really light but holds all the essentials.

I do like my Radley bags even though I have a wardrobe full of other bags in all colours, shapes and sizes. I am determined not to buy any more!
