Emergency tax is NOT a punishment it is just a temporary measure that is a best guess at correct tax untill the proper tax situation can be sorted out.
Emergency tax is not your ememy, it can be your friend, do not be afraid of it.
lol's! very true, but just not my experience of what my acquaintances usually think... I am always being collared in the pub/park/playground by friends moving jobs and panicing when they hear the 'E' word as they believe it is a higher rate they are paying... obviously harks back to the days when emergency code was BR as standard which was yonks ago! I am always amazed at how little educated men & women understand regarding their own tax! Paye has made us a nation of lazy taxpayers!!:rotfl::beer:0
