Job applications & Credit checks by employer

Hello Hello
I'm just about to start applying for jobs in back (again).
When I last worked for a Bank, they didn't do credit checks at the application stage (in 1987), but now they do.
I had a few financial hiccups a few years back and got a statutory report from Equifax this week to see what's showing up these days.
It mainly seems to show Unrecorded Enquiries...I can't see anything untoward, but would like to know if a prospective employer can see these Unrecorded Enquiries? Main reason I ask is that there is what appears to be a search but some company called Equidebt at my previous address some time last year. I've never heard of Equidebt and certainly haven't received any communication from them.
I know prospective lenders can't see Unrecorded Enquiries but can prospective employers??
Anyone?
